Back again

Hi all,
My Mr. Fox and I had a lovely break away to the north of Auckland and it was soo splendiferous.
What a lovely country i live in. We breathed in the ocean air, soaked up the sun and admired the views.
First stop was a place called Sandspit, what an amazing camping ground they have there...right on the beach...perfect for dipping foxy paws as much as possible.

Sandspit, Rodney District, NZ

Mr. Fox and i had a great time. The actual tent sites were big and they had quaint little cabins that i really wouldnt mind staying in sometime soon. There was a gorgeous cafe too.

Our portable den!!!

The next day we went to Russell in the Bay of Islands...AMAZING. What paradise!! so did not want to come home. Our break away was only for two nights but it was so refreshing and inspiring.

Russell Lookout at Sunset

Of course this fox cannot leave crafting at home when she goes away..oh no siree!! I crocheted some little booties, 'gumdrop booties' from Crochet Today Nov/Dec 2009 issue. I just have to pick out some buttons and sew them on. I am really pleased with them...not quite perfect but sweet anyway.
Almost finished booties

I do love the green and brown combo! They whipped up so fast that i started a 'raspberry beret' for myself in the brown.
Before we set of on our adventure i cranked up the sewing machine and put an edging on a 'thrifted by Mama Fox' tapestry. So chuffed with it, looks super cute beside my bed. Thanks so much Mama Fox xx

Bundle of Goodies!!

Well this lucky little fox got a parcel from Mama Fox...oooohhh the goodness. Thought i would share with you how much sweetness and thrifty delight she managed to bundle up and send my way. Oh am soo lucky. What fun, crafting with these goodies will be, just look at those colours..yummy!

Happy weekend everyone xx

Crafty goodness

well i cant believe its Wednesday....err when did that happen?!  I thought i might post some of my previous crafty endevours.  And can i add that I am so excited to be finally part of the blogging group......... and to have a comment left on my blog......sooo exciting! jump and up and down exciting! Thanks for dropping by homegirl. :)

Slippers nearly done!!

Finished slippers! Yay!
These slippers were super fast to make.  They kinda look weird and a bit shapeless when you are making them but are soooo cute on.  And are super soft and comfy on little foxy paws!!  It is a pattern included in the 'Crochet Today' magazine November/December 2009 issue.  I think they are called 'Snuggle slippers'. Arent the little bobbles just too cute!
I love that magazine. Its an affordable way of getting modern crochet patterns. They have a great website too with some really fun and FREE patterns.  You can find them at  Really worth a look.
I really adore their  'Raspberry Beret' pattern from the September/October 2009 issue.  Like really really adore it.  Major foxy crush on this pattern.  Have whipped up three of these berets for gifts so i need to make one for me!! I will post pics when i get around to this.

Kiwiana market bag

Tiki love market bag
I must apologise for the grainy pics, could only find shrunken versions.  These are some bags i made for an awesome kiwi friend of mine. She lives in Melbourne now and i wanted to give her a little bit of home. These are some gorgeous vintage tea towels i found on some thrifting adventures. They are far too lovely for drying dishes with. They were destined for bigger things, oh yes siree.  I used the trim for the handles and made a basic market bag from the main part of the towels. No a 'give it go' kinda sewing fox!! Perfection is not the aim when i'm sewing although i must say i was mighty pleased with these!! lol. I do love to think of these hanging over my friends shoulder as she trawls the Melbourne markets.
Well this has turned into quite the show and tell session and this little fox better get started on making dinner before a hungry mr. fox returns to the den! xx

Cloudy view from the den

I got up early this morning, the view from the sky den is rather cloudy....... i have been waiting for ' mr. fox' to wake up so i can start up my sewing machine!! I have plans to craft today. A friend is expecting a baby boy early next year and i want to make something for him, something he and his mum will like. And christmas is not so far away...hmm will have to get crafting fast.

I like to sew, crochet and knit..and i am trying to get better at all three.
My mum 'mama fox' is amazing. She can craft like nobodys business. She taught me my crafty skills but i have a really long way to go before i match her talent!!

She and my dad  'papa fox' are my inspiration. Papa fox can make kids we had a homemade go-cart, a playhouse and heaps of other cool stuff he made. He great with anything mechanical and is often in his 'Man den' the shed!

'Sister fox' is a gorgeous fox, she lives in the south too, although she has left the family den. She is a crafty fox too! She is great at sewing and i was throughly spoilt on my last birthday with her crafty present.

The 'family den' is way down at the bottom of New Zealand, in the countryside. I am in the big smoke; Auckland. Mr. fox and i moved here almost a year ago and just love the lifestyle. We are saving hard for a den of our own. Our current den is a rented apartment that is small to say the least. But its cosy and in the central city so it suits us just fine right now.
View from the sky den on a good day

Oooo i  hear the jug boiling away merrily and i need until next time
Goodbye from the thrifty fox

First post for this little fox

Thrifty fox loves looking at blogs, glimpsing into the crafty endevours of all the clever people out there. It was time for her to start sharing her crafty creations, thrifty finds and thoughts with the world. So from this foxes den to the big wide world...hellooo!
