New home, a kitchen table but no internet

Hi all. Well Mr. Fox and I have moved into our new den. Its lovely and spacious....and it has a kitchen table..oh so happy about that. I will be back with pictures and new crafting goodies as soon as we get the internet up and running. That doesn't look like that will happening until next week, so happy weekending everyone. xx

A bit of a break and a decision made.....

Sorry for such a long, unannounced break. Have been under some pressure lately at work and have finally, after much deliberation decided to give up being a Registered Nurse. After almost five years of being a Nurse I have decided to call it quits. Nursing has been a real Love-Hate relationship for me, it is a job that is so challenging, inspiring and satisfying but it is also demanding, stressful and often thankless. So in just over eight weeks I will say goodbye to my Old Foxes at the Rest home and hello to the big ol' world of opportunities. It's exciting and terrifying at the same time!

As is the case with most crafters, at times when many thoughts are racing round ones mind, my hands have been frantically crafting.....that's one thing about stress that is rather good!!! So here are the fruits of my time spent fretting over just what it is I want to do with my life.......

Work in progress.....

The picture on the left captures the true colours of the wools. The brown beret is crafted from my favourite yarn to work with Sirdar's Eco Wool dk, 100% undyed virgin wool. It is so lovely and soft, super gorgeous to work with.

The blue beret is from a yarn that I have sadly lost the label for.

Twice as Nice!

  • A pair of sweet little booties for a family friends new little boy who has not had the easiest start to life but is by the sounds of it, a real little fighter and a super cutie!

Oh so cute booties for teeny toes
These booties are from the May/June 2010 issue of Crochet Today Magazine and are called Bowtie Booties...they are so much fun to make and I think are rather cute...think I will make some more very soon indeed!
  • The beginnings of a little amigurumi tiger for the same little boy, will show you the progress as soon as the Auckland weather is conducive to taking a decent photograph!! I'm enjoying the making of a wee toy but am finding it a little fiddly.....patience is not my strong point.

  • A new passion for photography with the help of a new tripod and the newly downloaded Advanced User Manual for my trusty camera. Helping me record the view from the Sky Den before we move in the weekend....yikes, should really be packing...
  • Oh my view......

.......I really don't want to leave you......

......my lovely, lovely view!

  • More rows on my knitted log cabin blanket

  • And a few more worry lines!!
I hope that things are sweet where you are. Promise to return much sooner next time xx

Its FRIDAY!!

Wooohoooo! its Friday. Lovely, lovely wonderful Friday!!! Oooo so excited that its officially the weekend. Tee hee so much crafting and lazy time planned, I may be 'On- Callout Duty' for work but I am planning on thinking about work as little as a responsible Nurse can.

Have had some lovely skies outside the den this week, will never tire of that view....but when did Autumn creep up??I don't recall inviting it this way just yet!

The Autumn has crept in!

Yet here it is. It snuck in rather sneakily overnight I think! hmmm I suppose it is March now.

I do really, really love Summer. Not quite ready to say goodbye to ice-creams and picnics just yet. Even if all colours are so vibrant in Autumn and the air is so much crisper.

And Autumn means more crafting days warm and cosy inside....yes maybe not so upsetting after all. Just can't believe how quickly time passes sometimes.

Speaking of sneaky...somehow the beginnings of a new log-cabin blanket slipped onto my knitting needles. I'm becoming a little concerned that I may be more than slightly addicted to this kind of blanket construction. However I do have a perfectly acceptable excuse... a friend of mine expecting a baby boy in July.

Oops I did it again....round two of log cabin

I really would love to in this house amongst the towers,
perched way up high. I have fantasies of a lawn, vege
and flower beds and chickens!!

Painting has been on my mind a lot lately. Our new place will have room for an art corner and so dreams of potential paintings fill my thoughts. Colours and ideas for compositions have been popping out from the streets and parks around me. I love the way the buildings intersect and overlap in cities and really want to tackle these interactions on canvas soon. Isn't it funny how things that have been right in front of you for ages all of sudden take on a new light when you change the way your look at your world

Here is some of those skies i mentioned earlier, oh just look at that blue.....delicious

Gorgeous fluffy clouds

Lovely dusk
Gotta love a sunset
I have been to the library and have a stash of inspiration for the coming months, gosh there are some seriously beautiful books available. It takes a whole lot of while power for me to resist the urge to go and buy many of them for my bookshelf.
Weekend reading....ooooo lovely

I really want to have a go at knitting this super cute hat........love the shape and that button.

Perfection!
