Girl time in Sydney

At the beginning of August cublet and I spent a week in Sydney with my sweet sister. I had been craving a holiday with 'just us girls' for a while so instead of presents for Mothers Day, Birthdays and Christmas this year I chose to have an adventure instead. Oh how glad am I that I did. We had a wonderful week exploring Sydney.

Mae is a busy wee bee and was very restless on the flight over. She wanted to crawl and explore rather than sit on Mummy's lap! Thank goodness there was an empty seat beside us. After much wriggling she finally feel asleep in the bassinet only for me to have to take her out again for descent! Poor sleepy babe. We were both very relieved to meet her Aunty Mary at the airport and make our way to the hotel.

We crammed in lots of sightseeing, a bit of shopping, much walking and plenty of delicious food. The hotel was a couple minutes walk from the Central Train Station and free buses left just outside. We made the most our weekly pass using the Ferries everyday. It was cold and cloudy most of the week. My planned ocean swim didn't happen and there was no need for sunscreen!

Mae and Aunty Mary! Two peas in a pod.

It was brilliant to make special memories during our time away. Mary and Mae have a similar cheeky and fun streak so much giggling was had by all. Mae loves her Aunty and we are so looking forward to her coming over to celebrate cublet's first birthday.

My favourite afternoon was a High Tea at Sea! Mary had never experienced High Tea and I was keen to introduce her to the delightful ritual. It was a lovely afternoon cruising the harbour, sipping tea and over-indulging on exquisite baked treats and savouries.

Oh Sydney! Just look up.

We visited the Zoo, Aquarium, Botanical Gardens, Bondi Beach, Manly Beach and the wonderful Kinokuniya Book store (an amazing place for books and in particular Japanese craft books). We wandered around the Rocks, Darling Harbour, Circular Quay and the Opera House. Mae enjoyed herself immensely. So many new places and people, she was in seventh heaven; our wee social butterfly.

We were spoiled on our way home with an upgrade to Premium Economy! Ooo La La, I could get used to traveling like that! Mae was worn out and fell asleep right after take-off for two blissful hours. We were so excited to see Toby after six nights away. Mae adores her Daddy and was ever so pleased to snuggle him at arrivals. Oh how these moments warm my heart. Time spent with family is time I cherish, the memories from this holiday are certainly ones to treasure.
